This is the newsletter of Conor Svensson (@conorsvensson).
I write Web3 Perspectives to share my thoughts on web3 and where we’re headed. I’m a big believer in the premise and utility of web3. I’m not a speculator, however, and my writing reflects this.
Who are you?
For the first decade-plus of my career, I was a programmer working for financial institutions, but now my role is best described as an entrepreneur. I’ve been working full-time on web3 technologies since 2016. My first contribution to web3 was the creation of the open-source library Web3j which has been downloaded over 3 million times and is still going strong 7 years later.
A couple of years ago, I published the Blockchain Innovator’s Handbook which was my first proper foray into writing. In the months following its release I missed writing, so started this publication to keep sharing my perspectives.
I’m the founder of Web3 Labs, a decentralised infrastructure company. Web3 Labs are maintainers of the Ethereum client Hyperledger Besu and provide commercial support for it.
We also have a leading blockchain and appchain explorer, Chainlens, which visualises on-chain assets and normalises blockchain data for users.
Outside of building web3, I love hanging out with my family. I am a purple belt in Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu and train at RGA HQ. I also like playing Magic the Gathering, Warhammer 40k and other tabletop games on the rare occasion I have some free time.
